ebookers.com was formed in 1999 in London, but our origin dates back 20 years. We began in 1983 as Flightbookers Ltd, a kiosk-based travel agency in London. In 1999, ebookers.com was formally founded. We were the first distinct interactive website company in the UK. Following an IPO on the stock exchange, we rolled out across Europe.
Orbitz acquired ebookers.com in 2005, with a major initiative to transition to a global technology platform. The vision: a platform that would serve air, car and hotel. This transition has been a smashing success. ebookers.com experienced a dramatic surge since launching on the new platform in 2009.
Today, ebookers operates in 12 different countries. We are currently the top performer in Finland, Switzerland, Austria and Ireland, and in the top three for Europe. As each country has unique consumer needs, we champion our diversity. In Sweden and Denmark, ebookers.com operates as MrJet: an established brand with great visibility.
