We believe that no challenge is unsolvable and that people working together can find the answer. We’re constantly finding new opportunities to get involved in our world.
Our mission at Orbitz Worldwide goes beyond helping travelers find great hotel and vacation package deals to destinations around the world.
Launched in 2009, Orbitz Engaged is an effort by the company to get involved in the lives of our customers and the communities that support our industry by taking on issues and causes that improve tourism. From building homes in post-Katrina New Orleans to partnerships with Habitat For Humanity to rehabilitating homes in Chicago, our team members organize and act to support the destinations we love. Every Orbitz Worldwide employee receives paid time off to volunteer—every year. This cool idea brings volunteerism to communities in need throughout the world.
Through partnerships with community organizations we’re proud to be part of the bigger solution.
For those who love to travel the globe, protecting it comes with the turf. Orbitz GoGreen is a great example of our passion for the environment. It’s an employee-based group, encompassing all areas and aspects of Orbitz Worldwide. Together, we promote sustainable efforts to minimize our global impact.
Efforts include actively recycling, reusing and reducing our consumption footprint and reducing our paper usage. Every Orbitz employee receives reusable cups and coffee mugs, and Styrofoam is a no-no. We even use biodegradable eating utensils!
Our efforts even reach our data centers, which have been awarded and recognized for energy efficiency. Concern for the environment influences our group social activities, such as our Bike Commuter Challenge (encouraging people to cycle to work) and special events like Adopt-a-Beach™ Cleanup.
We also promote and support sustainable tourism. Worldwide we partner with CarbonFund.org to help travel customers reduce their carbon footprint. In 2007, we launched eco.orbitz.com, a microsite offering environmentally friendly travel options.
